Geagte Ouers
Namens die Personeel, Beheerliggaam en Ouervereniging wens ons u en u gesin ‘n voorspoedige 2018 toe. Graag nooi ons u uit om weereens hierdie jaar deel te wees van die verskillende aktiwiteite van die skool om sodoende die kinders te ondersteun, bemoedig en geleenthede vir hulle te bied.
Neem asseblief kennis van die volgende sake:
1. Kleure-atletiek: Die plaaslike kleure-atletiek vind op Donderdagmiddag, 25 Januarie en Vrydag 26 Januarie plaas. Die atletiekprogram begin Vrydag om 07:00. Die velditems vind reeds Donderdagmiddag vanaf 14:00 plaas daarom sal die skool Donderdag om 13:00 uitkom.
Daar sal verskeie kosstalletjies wees met onder andere sosaties, worsbroodjies en hamburgers.
2. Atletiek: Die Grotere Parys Atletiekbyeenkoms word op (al die hoërskole in die dorp), Woensdag 30 Januarie vanaf 07:30 tot 17:00, gehou. As gevolg van die byeenkoms sal die skool op dié dag gesluit wees en nie-atlete kan tuis bly.
3. Graad 8-verwelkoming: Die verwelkoming vind plaas vanaf 08:00 Woensdag 24 Januarie te Dimalachite. Om 17:15 is daar ‘n gr. 8 ouervergadering waar ons ouers wil inlig oor akademiese en ander aangeleenthede. Daarna word gr. 8 ouers, lede van die Beheerliggaam en personeel genooi vir ‘n bring en braai by die skool, waartydens ons gesellig gaan verkeer. Leerders sal om 17:00 met die skoolbus na die skool terugkeer en ouers kan hulle kinders weer hier afhaal. Die volledige inligting i.v.m. die gr. 8-verwelkoming is reeds aan die leerders voorsien.
4. Ouerbetrokkenheid: Ouers wat graag wil betrokke raak hierby, word uitgenooi na die ouerkomiteevergadering wat plaasvind op Dinsdag 30 Januarie om 17:15 in die skoolsaal. Ma’s wat omgee kom Vrydae om 09h00 by die finansiële kantoor bymekaar.
5. Ouervergaderings: Die skool het dit nodig geag om vir indiwiduele grade ouervergaderings te hou waartydens belangrike akademiese en ander inligting deurgegee sal word. Hierdie vergaderings vind as volg plaas:

Woensdag 24 Januarie 2018 Gr 8’s 17:15
Maandag 29 Januarie 2018 Gr 9’s 17:15

6. Wanneer u kind die dag nie die skool kan bywoon nie, versoek ons vriendelik dat u die skool sal skakel (07:30) en ons verwittig van die afwesigheid sowel as die rede. Wanneer leerlinge in die loop van die dag die skool om een of ander rede moet verlaat, vra ons dat u hierdie reëlings met die kantoor om 07:30 van die spesifieke dag sal tref. Voordat ‘n kind die terrein verlaat, moet die persoon wat hom/haar kom afhaal, die kind in die uittekenregister in die kantoor uitteken.
7. Afwesighede: Leerders se afwesigheid tot skoolbywoning neem toe in die week voordat die skool vir ‘n skoolvakansie sluit. Ek verseker u dat die personeel hulle verbind tot volgehoue kwaliteit onderrig. Die personeel sal dus in gevalle, waar leerders sonder goeie rede afwesig mag wees teen die normale tempo van onderrig voortgaan om sodoende die leerder wat wel die skool op die dag bywoon se reg tot onderwys eerbiedig. Geen toegewings sal gemaak word ten opsigte van enige skoolwerk of opdragte vir leerders wat in sulke gevalle afwesig is nie. Ons wil daarom ‘n vriendelike beroep op u doen om toe te sien dat u kind(ers) nie onnodig uit die skool bly nie.
8. Tweedehandse skooldrag: Daar bestaan ‘n groot behoefte aan tweedehandse skooldrag. Indien u die skool in die verband kan help (skenk of verkoop), skakel asseblief met mevrou Yvette van Zyl om die voorsiening daarvan aan die skool te reël. Atletiekdrag en sweetpakke is vanaf 2018 by die verskaffers beskikbaar: Parys Mans- en Kinderwinkel en Verons.
9. Honderd sluitkassies is vanaf Januarie tot Novemer 2018 beskikbaar teen R165 per jaar vooruitbetaalbaar. Aansoekvorms is by ontvangs beskikbaar.
10. ADMINISTRASIE 2018
Die kantoor sal vanaf 07:30 tot 13:45 oop wees vir administrasie en sake.
11. “SCHOOL COMMUNICATOR”
Die skool maak gebruik van die “school communicator app”. Dit hou die leerders en onderwysers op die hoogte van gebeure by die skool, die jongste nuus en kalender-inligting oor toekomstige gebeure.
Om die kommunikasie met u te verbeter doen ons ‘n vriendelike beroep op u om die “app” op u rekenaar/selfoon te installeer. Besoek www.school-communicator.com/downloads. Kies die korrekte provinsie en skool en klik op “save” en dan op “run”.
12. HUISWERKBOEK EN ALMANAK
Die skool sal Donderdag 25 Januarie aan elke leerder ‘n huiswerkboek voorsien. Hierdie boek bevat inligting ten opsigte van die gedragskode (skoolreëls, skooldrag, algemene inligting ens), toekennings van erekleure, skoolbeleid (selfone, eksamens, veiligheid, bloedbeheer ens.) en belangrike datums en gebeure van die jaar.
‘n Almanak met die belangrike datums en gebeure van die jaar, sal ook aan elke leerder voorsien word. Die spesifieke tye van die aktiwiteite sal deur die afrigters met die leerders gekommunikeer word.

Dear Parent/s
On behalf of the staff, Governing Body and Parents’ Association we would like to extend our good wishes for the new year. We also take this opportunity to invite you to participate in all the various school activities to support and encourage your child/children.
Please take note of the following:
1. The athletes taking part in Frankfort on Wednesday the 24th of January 2018 will be departing at 10 o’clock from the school. Please ensure that the learners are dressed according to the dress code for athletics.
2. The school’s athletics meeting will take place on Thursday, 25 January and on Friday, 26 January 2018. On Friday the athletics meeting will start at 07:00. The field items will be staged on Thursday afternoon. The school will close at 13:00 on Thursday, and the athletics will commence at 14:00.
Various food stalls will sell hotdogs, hamburgers, etc.
3. The Greater Parys Athletics Meeting (all the high schools of Parys) will be held on Wednesday, 30 January. The meeting will start at 07:30 and end at 17:00. Because of this athletics meeting the school will be closed for the day.
4. Grade 8 orientation camp: This orientation camp will be held on Wednesday, 24 January as from 08:00 at Dimalachite. A meeting between the Gr 8 – parents and the teachers will be held at the school hall at 17:15 to inform the parents of the academic requirements and thereafter the grade 8 parents, the staff members and members of the Governing Body, are invited for a “braai” (parents bring their own meat/food, refreshments and cutlery) as from 18:00, on the school premises. The learners will return to school at 17:00. Details regarding this day will be issued to the grade 8 learners.
5. Parents’ Committee: Parents are hereby invited to become a member of the parents’ committee. The annual parents’ committee meeting is to be held on Tuesday 30 January at 14:15 in the school hall.
6. Parents’ meetings: The staff has deemed it necessary to hold individual grade meetings with the parents to impart important information regarding academic work. The meetings will be conducted as follows:

7. Absenteeism: If your child is absent from school on a specific day, you are requested to contact the school at 07:30 to inform us of his/her absenteeism. Please supply a valid reason. Should it be necessary for your child to leave school during the course of the day for any reason whatsoever, you are also requested to inform the school at 07:30. Before your child leaves the school’s premises the responsible adult should sign the applicable register at the office.
8. We experience that learners tend to be absent from school during the week prior to the closing date for the school holidays. The staff members are committed to sustain quality teaching until the last day of the term. No concessions will be made in instances where learners are absent from school without prior arrangements or valid reasons.
9. Second-hand uniforms:
We urgently need second-hand school uniforms. Should you be able to assist us in this matter please contact Mrs Yvette van Zyl. The school’s athletics wear and tracksuits may be purchased from Parys Mans- en Kinderwinkel and Verons.
10. A hundred lockers will be made available by the school at R165 each (to be paid in advance) from January until December 2018.
11. ADMINISTRATION
The school office will be open for enquiries and other matters from 07:30 to 13:45 each day.
12. SCHOOL COMMUNICATOR
The school makes use of the School Communicator App. It keeps everyone informed of recent events, news and also future events. We request parents to download the app without any delay. Visit www.school-communicator.com/downloads. Choose the correct province and school, click on ‘save’ and ‘run’.
13. HOMEWORK BOOK AND CALENDER
We would like to draw your attention to the fact that each learner will receive the school’s calendar next Thursday, as well as the school’s diary where most of the year’s activities are indicated. The extramural programme is printed in the diary and the specific times allocated for the activities will be communicated by the various coaches.
All information regarding the school rules and the Code of Honour, as well as policies regarding cell phones, safety, etc., is also included.
