DRESS AND APPEARANCE

SUPPLIERS:

Track suits, athletic-,netball- and all other sporting wear can be obtained at the school from Mrs. Irma van Riet.

 

GIRLS

SCHOOL UNIFORM:

 

Summer

  • Dark blue skirt (six panels) with a zipper on the left side.
  • Length of skirt: When the girl kneels, the skirt must be a maximum of 15 cm from the floor.
  • Light blue shirt. Long sleeves are rolled up to above the elbows.(grade 12 girls wear white shirts)
  • Short plain blue socks. (Grade12 girls wear white socks.)
  • black leather school shoes with a strap or lace up school shoes.

Winter

  • Plain blue tie with the school badge on it.
  • Navy long hose or navy long pants may be worn.
  • A school blazer may be worn but it is not compulsory.
  • A windbreaker (worn in primary school) is only allowed in grades 8– 9.
  • Light blue jersey.
  • Furthermore the same rules apply as prescribed for summer.
  • The tracksuit jacket may only be worn during the second and third term.

 

APPEARANCE:

  • No make-up or jewellery is allowed. (including any form of bracelet)
  • Earrings: only one standard stud or the ring type is allowed in the bottom hole of the earlobe. No earrings or decorated earrings are allowed. (Maximum size: approximately the size of a twenty cent piece.)
  • Hair touching the bottom of the collar when the learner is standing up straight, must be tied up with a black, white or blue elastic or a ribbon – it includes braided hair strings.
  • No coloured hair pieces, “dreadlocks”, cut lines in the hair (paging) of graffiti (cut outs) will be tolerated or allowed.
  • Hair must be neat and appear natural with no extravagant styles.
  • The teachers maintain the right to decide how the learner must wear her hair.
  • Nails may not extend over fingertips.
  • Colourless nail polish is allowed.
  • Socks may only be turned down once.
  • Pantihose and socks may not be worn simultaneously.
  • Shirts must be tucked in neatly.

 

 BOYS

SCHOOL UNIFORM:

Summer

 Light blue shirts. Long sleeves are rolled up to above elbows (Grade 12 boys wear white shirts)

  • Grey shorts or long trousers (Grade 12 boys wear navy trousers.)
  • Only grey school socks are allowed.
  • black leather shoes (no other colour insertion allowed.) Boots may not be worn.
  • A tie is compulsory when a blazer is worn.

Winter

  • Light blue shirt. Long sleeves are rolled up to above the elbows. Plain blue tie with the school badge on it.
  • A school blazer is recommended but is not compulsory.
  • The windbreaker of the primary school is only allowed in gr. 8-9.
  • Grey trousers with school socks.
  • A light blue jersey.
  • The tracksuit jacket may only be worn during the second and third term.

 

APPEARANCE:

  • A boy may not walk with his hands in his trouser pockets.
  • No jewellery will be allowed or tolerated.
  • No “dreadlocks”, braided hair strings, cut lines in the hair (paging) of graffiti (cut outs) will be tolerated or allowed
  • Hair must be neat and flat. It may not hang over the shirt collar or over the ears or eyebrows. When a boy combs his hair back and the fringe is combed forward, the above- mentioned rule is also applicable. The hair is not allowed to be longer than eight centimetres on top.
  • Hairstyles not enhancing the school uniform should not be worn.
  • The teachers have the right to decide how a learner may style his hair.
  • Boys may not attend school unshaven (i.e. with stubbly beard.)

 

SPORTSWEAR:

  • Tracksuit: Navy blue pants with a navy blue jacket with a horizontal yellow stripe.
  • Athletics shirt: Dark blue with yellow stripe on sides.
  • Athletics shorts: (boys) Navy blue.
  • (Girls) Navy blue shorts.
  • Netball: Navy blue skirt with light blue blouse.
  • Rugby: Pants – navy blue. Jersey – blue with old gold and lighter blue stripes. Socks – Royal blue with old gold in turn ups.
  • Tennis and squash: Shirt – the school golf shirt.
  • Trousers - dark blue.
  • General - Provincial clothes may only be worn to school on a Friday.

The recreation wear for sports (golf shirt and dark blue pants) is sold in the office by Mrs. Van Riet.
